crayon, a new marketing company: Why Are You Here?

  • scott penton · 2 years ago
why I read your blog via RSS? I am an early adaptor, a Internet geek if you will, I too am looking for the latest stuff, I have some ideas floating around in my head that I would like to do, just trying to figure out how, I blame ADD ;) I'm thinking about doing a video project that Dave Winer said on scripting news, except it would be here in Las Vegas, we'll see

Not necessarily why via RSS. I'm just curious why people are reading THIS particular blog along with all the other ones out there. Informal community poll sort of.

I'm here because I'm crazy about new media and can't get enough. Most specifically I'm really trying to find my place and decide which direction I'm really heading in terms of my brand and where it's all going. I've got tons of things swirling around in this brain of mine and I'm taking in as much as I can to while trying to sort it all out. In the past, I've always gone with the gut and it's done me right thus far but this is such a evolving and changing world that I want to be moving and progressing with it.
Besides... you give great hugs :-)

I read/listen because of your work in Second Life. You're one of the better MDCs and it is interesting to see/hear your perspectives. I also respect the geographically-diverse staff and the challenges that presents.

Well, it all started when a guest lecturer at my uni introduced me to Second Life. He told me about Text 100's SL launch last year. I'm a final year student and I was thinking of writing about PR and social media for my dissertation, but at the time I didn't really have much knowledge about the topic, so I decided to do a google search to see whether I could find more PR and marketing companies on SL.

The search lead me to this post on Paull Young's site. From there I decided to check out crayonville in SL, started listening to the different crayonista podcasts and attended my first Coffee with Crayon...and have been hooked ever since!

I knew of CC anyway, and came across Managing the Gray when searching podcast alley for marketing podcasts. From there I've ended up subscribed to accident hash and the crayonville podcast. I also subscribe quite liberally to rss feeds. I try to give each one at least a couple of weeks to shine, but if after that time I find I'm skipping over most of the posts I drop them.

Crayonville's probably been in my list for 3 or 4 weeks, but to be honest it's on an extended 2 week trial :)

Because of crayonville (and whispered pearls) I've joined secondlife. I was totally gobsmacked to find there's an entire economy within secondlife, and I can 'see the point' much more of crayonville than I could before. I'm still letting my brain digest all this new information.

Crayoncast blog will almost certainly survive the 'cut' because it isn't too high frequency, and most posts I find interesting and worth reading. It's that simple really :)

    keep up the good work

    (deep breath)
First in line was JaffeJuice.com. then the book shortly after. Then the podcast. Then the obsession with new media. I'm in the advertising industry, 3rd year here, so it all made sense to follow. And I like new. And I love The Internet (it's important:). Anyway, Crayon got me to Second Life and now I can't resist keeping up with what's happening here (via bloglines - otherwise I'd never know). I like the newness of it all and it's great to see it in action I guess. Well, maybe not guess...

Listening to FIR begat listening to MtG.
Listening to MtG and FIR begat getting into SL.
Getting into SL begat an interest in cool things people are doing in SL.

I read your blog because your little party of Dirty is the only one that looks nice!

OK, more seriously, it's mostly because I like to monitor companies (and people) who are bringing RL brands into SL.

I came here by accident and am very underwhelmed.

Good question, CC. Made me think.

I'm a CD at an "interactive agency." I'm fascinated by the social-networking side of what we do, and find myself becoming less enamored of 'web-for-web's sake'.

I read/listen/interact because I learn from you guys and your circle.

I've been reading and listening to Shel for a year or two now and I'm interested in what your "thoughts, ideas and creativity" are.

I focus on internal communications and virtual worlds. That is why I am here. Thank you.
