There seems to be the misconception that the "old" values like think-as-if-you-where-the-consumer are not that important.

I find many trends including a lot that happens in micro-blogging can be easily predicted as unsustainable. If you can't see any REAL personal or business value out of some technology and it doesn't help you to achieve any goal better or easier than the trend is very likely just pushed by the innovators and early adopters of the technology lifecycle.
Sadly many manager jump over the why directly to the how.

I see it often enough with clients when asked "Would you use it?" answer with Maybe or Somebody would. Doesn't that immediately set off an alarm bell?

Re: How PR Professionals Can Avoid Bad Blogger Outreach in 3 Easy Steps

I really liked your insight to blogging. I liked how you took your personal experience both negative and positive and talked about that in your blog, therefore it was easier to relate to the what you were saying. I really enjoyed reading what you had to say! Thanks for your thoughts!

Re: crayon - a new marketing company

I think everything boils down to relationship - business is run on the basis of relationship. Therefore focus should be on people first and then technology. I see technology only as an aid not a means to an end.

Re: May I market for you?

I am new in this field and by posting this info you have helped me a lot. I've had the same thought about Twitter vs Second Life, mostly with regard to the hype around it. Most people I know are just trying to figure out what Twitter is, which is tough to do since it evolves with each tweet.

While you are right that there are similarities to Second Life, there are also some big differences. One, you don't have to download a program to get engaged. Two, the learning curve doesn't compare (I could never learn to fly in SL), and three, you don't have to engage to the same level. You can pop between Twitter, Facebook and work without much effort.

So while, yes, from a fad stand point there are similarities, there are also huge differences, too. What I find interesting is the growing transparency of people and brands, and for that reason Twitter deserves watching. And while you may not tell your clients to have a "Twitter strategy," you should be telling them to pay attention to what is a real shift in social behavior.

Re: Social media for small business

Thanks for the article on Social Bookmarking!
